Dr. Janke received her Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she took a position with the College of Pharmacy at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where she worked as a professor and researcher.

In 1997, Dr. Janke moved back to the U.S. and began preparing the Doctor of Pharmacy Program for Practicing Pharmacists for its Fall 1998 launch. In July 1998, Dr. Janke was charged with the development of the Office of Outreach Education. This office was responsible for providing learning opportunities for pharmacists. These opportunities included:

  • traditional CE events & programs,
  • certificate programs and
  • the College's "Non-traditional" Pharm.D
In 2002, the Office of Outreach Education evolved into the Office of Educational Development with expanded responsibilities. The Office currently provides continuing education for pharmacists, but also delivers several courses for university and professional students, in addition to assisting with the College's expansion to Duluth.

Dr. Janke has been actively involved with educational research and is the 1997 recipient of the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada Bristol-Myers Squibb National Award for Excellence in Education. For her contributions to web-based instruction, Dr. Janke received University of Minnesota Innovations in Technology Enhanced Learning Awards in both 1998 and 1999. In addition to directing the Office, Dr. Janke teaches drug literature evaluation for pharmacists and co-directs our medical terminology, self care, orientation to pharmacy and pharmacotherapy for the health professions courses.

Dr. Janke is a past Chair of the Continuing Pharmaceutical Education Section of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the 2004-2005 ACPE/AACP-CPE Scholar in Residence. She also chairs the College's Assessment and Instructional Design committees.
