Application Process

Initial Application for ACPE Accreditation

The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is the national agency
for accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy and providers of
continuing pharmacy education in pharmacy. Accreditation is the public recognition accorded to a professional degree program in pharmacy or a provider of continuing pharmacy education in pharmacy that is judged to meet standards through initial and
subsequent periodic evaluations.

The Application fee is $6,200 and is a process is designed to collect information on all aspects of the provider’s activities as they relate to the Accreditation Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education (effective 01/01/09). Providers seeking initial accreditation from ACPE are required to submit the Self-Study Report for Accreditation of Institutions and Organizations as Providers of Continuing Education for Health Care Professionals. In addition, the following items must be submitted at the same time.

  • Self-Assessment Questionnaire together with supporting materials and documentation, organized into a bound volume (e.g., notebook or binder) and one electronic copy

  • Non-refundable application fee, in the form of a check. Note: If the applicant formally withdraws their application prior to the accreditation action, a portion of the application fee may be refunded at the discretion of ACPE

  • Articles of Incorporation establishing incorporated status of the organization

  • Organizational budget (most recent projected or actual)or auditor’s statement

  • Commercial Interest Survey

Joint Accreditation Process for Health Care Professionals

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Accreditation Program are pleased to announce that they have collaborated in offering “Accreditation of Continuing Education Planned by the Team for the Team.” The goals of this joint accreditation are to support healthcare team-focused education that improves patient care, and at the same time to streamline the accreditation processes. Joint Accreditation for the Provider of Continuing Education for the Healthcare Team is available for organizations already accredited by at least two of the three national accrediting bodies: ACCME, ACPE, and/or ANCC.
